Re: eureka pub

I know progress has to happen but for what price. The eureka is a great looking building, with a lifetime of memories for probably all the people that search this site. I remember waiting outside for me dad and getting the traditional packet of crisps and a bottle of pop and being told "I will be fi...

Re: Whaling

My uncle Joe Davison from Whitleas first trip to sea was on a whaler. His first trip away from his family as a kid was for 18 months. Can you imagine that? Probably never been further than cleadon hills before then going away for 18 months on his own, dont suppose he was much older than 16 at the ti...

AAHHH. Memories. Jumpers for goalposts, Last goal the winner, Balls with laces in, Oranges at half-time.

Some great pairs of pit boots and Knobbly Knees. Must have been a good team as there is a trophy there.

Re: Barnes Road School

Couldnt agree more about the school and the feeling of community and belonging. I think I knew, or was known by all the kids in the school and area through my parents, siblings or other friends. Never had any bother with anyone. Just had a good childhood, without x boxes and dvds etc all I needed wa...

Re: Barnes Road School

Watcher what a great picture.

Those kids would have been 11 years old, leaving to go to comprehensive school.

Few faces i reconise Johhny McCrae, Mark Dykes and I think Mark Common are some of the boys. Going to have a closer look.

Fantastic.

Just what exactly do they put in those balti pies then?

Swallows and summers comes to mind but got to admire your positiveness, if not the fact you are probably mortal by 6.12 on a wednesday evening.

You will be saying that England will win the World Cup next.

Come on Shields!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Barnes Road School

I used to live in S Frederick Too, we probably knocked about together?. I think the headmistress was a Mrs Storey or Stokes but cant quite remember. There was also Mr Gallagher who did the football team? As you say a long time a go. But quality times or is it rose coloured spectacles?
