Is that the St Bedes that was near the Derby St baths and it was run by nuns? I went there for about a year even though I wasnt a Catholic, I remeber though the playground on the roof and the statues of the Virgin Mary in the hall ways, and the Nuns rapping your knuckles with a ruler :(

Re: What is it about Sheels

In a place called Cape Breton in Nova Scotia (which used to be a big mining area and closed down) there is a group of ex-miners called The Men of the Deeps who tour Canada with a concert, that is a famous song they sing, its very touching when you see the stage and its all dark until they put on the...

Re: What is it about Sheels

Malyamac I know what you mean about everything looking different. This is the first time I have been back for a good visit for 26 years. I was so shocked at the changes, some good, some bad. I think you keep your memories of how it was and dont think its going to change and then very surprised when ...

Re: NHS number

Thanks Baldy, looks like I will have to look harder at home to find something with it on. Cos it all seems double dutch to me. I used to work for the Inland Revenue in South Shields and Newcastle so I am sure they have a record of it somewhere.

Re: Sheels and ships

Yeah Freemantle is one of my favourite places. My Dads name is in the rememberance book at the Mission to Seamans in Freemantle. It was really good last time I was over there, just a year ago, to go see it.
