Best Christmas wishes to all members. Certainly different. Yesterday we had an outdoor Carol Singing session in the chapel gardens, close to the local shopping area. This morning we have our Carol Service in the chapel. , all performers suitably distanced and appropriately clad; only space for four ...

Back down under!
Just back from four weeks with the family in Bega NSW. Had a whale of a time. https://i.imgur.com/mdAdChs.jpg?2 Not particularly good quality but it captures the moment. This is whale watching season along the south coast as the pods travel back from the warmer seas bringing the family back towards ...

Re: Anzac
Very appropriate Sherri. I don't know if you have a copy of Patsy Adam-Smith's book "The Anzacs" - some really heartbreaking stories and of course the story of J Simpson Kirkpatrick..the Man with the Donkey. Your mention of Gloucestershire also brought back this memory and is related to my friend Ro...

Common Brothers Never in the MN but Pilot's note about Common Bros struck a chord in the old memory box. Father in Law (Arnold Smith) WW2 on the Hindustan (general cargo) from Immingham January 1940 to October 1940, across the Atlantic and up the west coast of America and return. Previously Athelpr...

A sad parting
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,Common Sense, who had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as "when to come in out of ...

Re: University Degrees
I came to Uni education as a mature student, having followed a Building Trade apprenticeship and then qualified the "hard way" (evening classes and Correspondence Courses) as a Building Surveyor. The opportunity of some formal management training came when my employer sent me (aged 46) on a Manageme...

Re: Posting Photos
Thanks Ralph. Potteroo Palace is an animal sanctuary just off the A1 Princes Highway between Merimbula and Bega, NSW. Ideal for children to see the animals not in cages (the Dingoes were fenced in). Kangaroos to feed, Wombats to cuddle (well almost - they are quite chunky and solid) and seemingly hu...

Lovely photos Ralph.
I've recently started using Imgur.
Took a little getting used to but it seems to do what it says on the tin!

Spotted this one on our journey from Bega down to Melbourne last year. Stopped for a coffee at Cann River and there was this lady with her dressed up pooch. Poor thing, it must have bveen uncomfortable - it was a very hot day!
