Thanks for the replies, its a shame the Cellar club closed down again after opening again in the 90s seen some good live stuff back then, Anyway Fairport Convention are playing an acoustic gig the Customs House this Sunday, Total class (If you like folk rock that is) Cheers

Saxon Club
On the suject of discos, my other half being a jarrow lass thinks there was a similar set up in jarrow called the saxon club near hill street bridge which had live bands on, one she remembers was called the Urge with John Miles & Paul Thompson before they hit the big time, never heard of this one.

Anyone remember Fat Moes in ocean road before it was ruperts, this would be 1971. it was for under 18s . I was 15 at the time and I'm sure a young Pete Edmunds was the DJ. The seating was a load of old settees, and the lasses used to wear hot pants. Happy days

Grumpy old men play classic rock stuff, they're a good band though, usually on at the office or the Clyde

Try the Lord Clyde at weekends, a lot of the bluesy type stuff that was popular at the turks, play at the Clyde , Mr Screatons band Archie Brown and the young bucks play there every now and again , check out the gig listings posted on the side of the bar.
