Andy in the book of South Shields Pubs the three Indian Kings stood in the North West Corner of the Market Place where the Commando stood. The Three Indian kings was built in the 1700s until 1890.

Barney went to the FAD last week on the wall there is a photo from 73/74 think, with everyone who hung around their Kev keeler, david Farham. graham clark etc they were sitting on the small roof on that little shed at the side and on the ground as well.

Mr Smith there is a reference book in the library about North East Shipbuilding in vol.1 they have a map of the Tyne in 1750 included is South Shields quality is ok, there is also plans of what became Brighams around 1850 it also includes a couple of streets, the volumes are quite large.

Barney I used to work for Ted Key the greengrocer then Brian Tait on the milk and as a bottle boy at the Shoreline to make a bit pocket money. And hang around the Duster which was run by Dot and Jim as well as the Fad.

We used to just go on the bus down street, Barney remember the watchie when they were building the flats next to us we used to play there he was the fastest watchie I had ever seen. Spooky Valley was fun your right we used to fight each other all the time.

Cairngomer as part of your apprenticeship did you work with bunty making washer after washer I did. Also I was apprentice to Dennis Whalen lining off and we played football at the top of the high shed on top of the steel plates.

Cairngomer worked in the ambulance room in the 70s Mary was the nurse and Squddly Sid Carter her assistant myself and others took turns in the ambulance room was in there with the jellytot incident, the little white ambulance was terrifying travelling to the hospital swb hairy going round corners.

Barney Dodger used to threaten us with the lollipop man esdales moved when gordon got knocked down and the Lawrensons moved in, also used to knock around with Colin Mcqueen, Ray Coffer, Mick Jeffels, Grampi, Ray Coates, etc. Fun days

Barney me John Milne, Tommy Robinson, Gordon Esdale (befor he got knocked down) used to go to the ponds at the bottom of Whiteleas Way next to the school also the shops on Whiteleas Way ps we used to fight the Robinsons, a lot remember a time when I fought Vincent and your Maureen came round smacked...

Cairngomer tell us about I was one of the first aiders on sight and went with the apprentice to the hospital, also spent time in the ambulance room, Mary was the nurse in charge and Sid was the other ambulance attendant ps only trradesman working when yards were on strike ambulance room you see.

Cairngomer 7374 was there after it happened the management decided to put managers and office staff on a marine fire fighting course at South Shields, me being a first aider at the time and others said we should do it as we where on the ship anyway and the gear was alongside, we became the first to ...

I served my time 1972-1976 at Leslies bad accident I attended was involving jelly tot the welders gaffer one of the apprentices had fallen off the staging as he went backwards he grabbed jelly tot both fell between the longys he was off a hell of a long time.

I lived in Bowman street when I was younger then moved to Whiteleas, when the estate was first built, In Bowman Street there was a corner shop ran by an arab family.
