i also remember the toy rat the firemen used to have on a bit string, on a friday night when the woman walked past the station they used to pull the string and watched as they all started to scream when the rat wizzed past their feet

I know I'm three years too late but did no-one ever figure this out? Hudson Street crossed the track at Tyne Dock Station by a level crossing, later on (I don't know why) they diverted Hudson Street, dug a cutting and went under the track instead, hence the old stone arch and retaining walls that ...

if i remember you can still see the old gate into the yard, curly did post some photos of the place a few years ago on here but not sure where they are now

hi kenny, did you know that the original south shields train station stood behind what is B & Q today ? and upto just a few years ago you could still see the platform, its now a car park

i lived on taylor street havelock street end close to fruit shop very close to hanrattys remember my nan getting a big high brass fender with all matching poker tongs shovel etc. for 5 shilling, used to sit on fender in front of big roaring fire, that was 55 ish bet they would be worth a fortune ...
