South Shields Football Clubs in 1930s

I have received a newspaper article about a relatives suicide, the headline states that he was a Football Director. It does'nt mention this anywhere in the article though. For it to have directors it must have been a biggish club, can anyone think of any clubs which were well known in the area in th...

South Shields Local Studies

I'm not totally sure whether this is on the right bit of the board. I was wondering if there is anyone who would be willing to go to the South Shields Local Studies Centre and look up an inquest report and possible obituary in the local paper archives for me? The gentleman who the article would refe...

I am very grateful and pleased, I always find it strange seeing the homes (the ones that are standing) that my ancestors lived in. He was the first born of Irish immigrants. They lived in Middlesbrough where Michael and all his siblings were born. Michael was a shipping purveyor (not quite sure what...

Thanks ever so much, it looks like it has a major facelift at the front as it looks nothing like a turn of the century house would have looked like. Its sad really that they had to alter the building so much.

9 Beach Road, South Shields

I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not. In 1931 my great grans brother Michael O'Hanlon was living with his wife Annie and children at 9 Beach Road, which I believe is now a solicitors 'Hannay & Hannay'. It was in that year that he committed suicide at home and died in hospital. I dou...
