Re: London Again......

If someone stabbed me I'd not be worrying too much as to whether it was a terrorist act or a hate crime, I be more inclined to worry whether I was going to d*e or not. I suppose I might find time to say, hey mate was that a terrorist act or a hate crime or are you just mental, but I think I'd be mor...

Re: The Big Story of the Day........

I liked Dennis Skinner's remark to black rod on the Queens opening of parliament, baring in mind it was a last minute rush job and clashed with the Queens visit to Ascot, he quipped......"Better get a move on the first race is at 2.30"

Sunderland AFC

Its sad to say Sunderland AFC are a shambles at the moment, the owner is trying to sell the club, they have no manager, they've been relegated, half the playing staff have either left or are waiting to leave and to top it all they have come up with a new strip for next season that no one likes. How ...

Re: British Election

We are in a mess right now I think Mrs May (Trumps Maggie, as he called her, does he know Maggie May was a prostitute in Liverpool) will soon be history to be replaced by our very own Trump (Boris) then we need another election quick I think in September, they don't like elections in August and July...

Re: British Election

Its a hung Parliament not a hug Government, but I agree its no good for the country if our Government has to get into bed with a party who's views are better suited to the 19th century.

Re: British Election

I cant see the present situation lasting very long, I cant see May lasting, she is going to struggle to get anything through parliament even being propped up by the DUP, she had a majority when she called the election and she knew then that she was struggling to get the Brexit she wanted, now its go...

Re: British Election

Messing with the silver surfers did for her not only did she alienate all those aged homeowners who struggled a lifetime to buy their homes, she also alienated all the following generation by threatening their inheritance. The news is full of the fact we have an aging population, she seemed to forge...

Odd phrases

That stick in your mind for a lifetime I'm sure most people have one or two........Like " Thanks pants " it goes back 46 years when my wife did a trip to sea with me, every morning the Purser who's cabin was next to mine would have a meeting with our Indian pantryman, finishing up with him staying, ...

Re: politcians

I think Thatcher knew her days were numbered and saw the Falklands as a diversion, it worked and she won the next election on the back of peoples patriotism. Since then we have spent billions on those rocks, not to mention the lives lost and destroyed, I did hear it said that if we had given a milli...

Re: thirty degrees in shield today

I'm too busy to work :-) we spend 6 weeks a year in Spain, split between 3 visits to Mallorca in the summer and 3 visits to Tenerife in winter, plus about 3 visits to our son and family in Jersey, then there are visits to Beaconsfield where our daughter and family live. On top of that we get regular...

Small children are often bothered with ear ache especially when the plane is losing altitude, 4 1/2 hours to Tenerife in the winter is my limit these days I'm 6ft 2in and arthritis in one knee so the leg room is a big factor for me.

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

Maybe I worded it wrong, what I meant was most people at the time would have preferred the whole war situation had not happened and they could have stayed at home. My Father had a strange sense of humour and always when looking back would refer to things as....before the holidays, pre war and after ...
