If you log onto www.southtynesideimages.org and click on search images.Then in the search box enter Burton House Inn you will find 3 photo,s of the pub and it mentions in one that the innkeeper was called Sisterson.Hope this helps.

The main purpose of the Allens coins was for allowing people credit to buy things in the store and the balance was paid back weekly or monthly in the office upstairs.

My mother Nan Smith used to work at the Burndept factory in River Drive round about the early 60s.Dont suppose you remember her.I know there was a lot of people there at the time.

If you check out apollo project on wikipeadia and scroll down to 'background' it will tell you at its peak there was 400,000 people and 20,000 companies working on the project.
