Re: Italy

If you're planning on going to Venice try to time it so you're there during the Mardis Gras. I believe next year that'll take place at the beginning of February. Me and some mates were staying in Bergamo (near Milan) about three years ago, went to Venice for the day by train (cheap fares and very pu...

Re: Harton College Area?

Hello Durham Guy. Crossway it's self is okay, most of the houses are privately owned now, but I'm sorry to say the rest of 'The Wedge', as the area is now known, is okay but not as nice. Sycamore Avenue. A mixture of council and excouncil houses. Now, not too bad an area, really. But, rumour has it,...

Re: Northern Lights tonight ?

I've just heard about this on the news a few minutes ago.

Can I just suggest something?

Next time anyone in this area/region/location/country sees them, could they ring me asap?

Reverse the charges even!

Re: Northern Lights Tonight

Our trip..... We met at Britannia Hotel at the airport, had an hour worth of 2 good presentations by two fellows from the Sky at Night team and then made our way to the airport to check in. This was swiftly done and then we went to the departure lounge to find out the plane would be an hour late! Th...

Re: Don't laugh at me coz I'm a fool

Me and the family had just been talking about him the evening before his death was announced. I never took to his 'character' in films etc but I do recall him on a talk show some years ago, telling tales of when he was a cabin boy at sea - and he was hilarious, while just being himself, no slapstick...

However, not too impressed.

Re: Wire In the Blood

Yes, to both of those questions. Filming took place at the General Hospital - on a unused ward and also outside the Diagnostic Centre, in the little semi-circular seating/shelter. I'm pretty sure both locations were used in different episodes. I didn't watch the series, but I do work at the hospital...

Around 12 years ago - maybe longer- there was an excellent Chinese place in Ocean Road, called The Joy King. Across the road from it was The Joy King 2 but this one did takeaways, not sitting in. I can't recall when they 'left' though.

I read the Dolittle books, too. I particularly remember the '....Goes to the Moon' one. A couple of years ago I went to see the show with Russ Abbot at the Sunderland Empire. Excellent entertainment. 'The Ragged-trousered Philanthropist' - my favourite bit of that is where one of the characters is t...

The funeral directors now stands where the TSB bank used to be. Then, when the other branch opened on Prince Edward Road, this one was turned into a sort of drop-in advice centre for the TSB. It went from having an olde worlde atmosphere and a beautiful polished wood counter to vertical blinds and b...
