Re: Simonside church St Simons graveyard
South Shields reference library has monumental books for each church grave yard in Shields.
The one for Saint Simons lists all grave names and dates, also map area of grave yard.

Re: old bus photos
Great pics so many memories, you can see Shields changing in the backgrounds. Particular interest to me is the no 42 Simonside standing in the market, also bus going up Wenlock Road and Newcastle Road with the Football Stand visible from Sima Hall, also Ferrograph factory where now car garage is. Saw Red Squirrel on 2 occasions in West Ave recently, also had Tawny Owl in back garden after the mice that live under hut (West Ave). It actualy swooped down on me and cut just above my eye luckily was wearing glasses at the time. Often spot Grey squirrels (which are actually considered vermin) in ...

I remember the second hand record shop, were used to sell and buy LPs. Teddy Boy dressed in Drapes used to examine the record for scratches and then offer you 50pence.
Next day it would be for sale £1.50.
About 1975 i think.

Amazing picture, my Grandad used to be engine driver from Tyne Dock to Consett carrying iron ore.
Think he retired about 1965, used to rell me stories of driving in pitch black during the bombing raids WW2 when trying to bomb Tyne Dock Arches.
Any more pictures would be great.

Re: 1914-18 War Memorial Garden
There are a family of brothers called Nezzworthy on plaque, one of whom won the Military Medal. I often have a cuppa with his son Larry in St Hildas who is now in his late 70s. His father actually survived the war, its amazing how these young children grew up and played together in Wellington street...
